Inspired by the collaborative environment of the UCSB Art Department, I designed the graduation program to reflect the creative culture of its close-knit graduating class. I invited each graduating student to contribute a drawing depicting their favorite memory during their time at UCSB.
The cover uses a two-sheet construction that separates the student artwork from the program text. This layering allowed the illustrations to function together as a collective visual archive, while maintaining the legibility of the typography above. For the large-scale production, I screen-printed the text layer and Risograph-printed the illustrated layer, using the qualities of each process to speak to the tactility of an archive. The finished programs became a sentimental artifact for the students and their families.
